Teaching
As an educator, I believe that critical thinking, as well as oral and written communication, teamwork, and cultural competence, are as important as academic content. I refer to these skills as “transferable skills” because I believe that they serve students well throughout their college tenure and beyond. I aim to help students develop transferable skills through a variety of techniques, including service-learning, collaborative assignments, and diversity-focused learning. I am also committed to engaging students in my research and mentoring undergraduate researchers. I encourage my undergraduate research assistants to share their work at professional conferences, as pictured above.
